Sediment Waves on the Western Slope of the Chukchi Rise (Arctic Ocean) and Their Implications for the Paleoenvironment

Based on multibeam bathymetric data and high-resolution shallow sub-bottom profiles acquired during China’s 10th Arctic Scientific Expedition Cruise in 2019, a sediment wave field was found the western slope of Chukchi Rise, Ocean. This developed lower with water depths between 1200 m 1800 stretched 15 km downslope direction. It comprised several parallel waves, wavelengths ranging from 700 to 3400 heights 12 70 m. In vertical direction, well-stratified deposits, tens meters thick, were affected by which exhibit asymmetric waveforms upslope migration trends. The morphological seismostratigraphic characteristics waves suggested their genesis as result interaction bottom current seafloor morphology, also supported hydrographical adjacent field. infered that this related Circumpolar Boundary Current, many researchers suggest flows through study area.
